Exterior Painting

Always start with prep.  Scrape and sand where needed. Fill any holes with Bondo Original or use the Dap DryDex Spackling for smaller holes, use Blue Frog Tape and the 3M Advanced Masking Film to cover areas you do not want paint to go!

When ready to paint, we use PPG Acri-Shield Max.  It comes in Eggshell or Satin.  It is a very good quality paint and lasts a long time. Very durable and holds well.

Cedar Siding

When we start these projects, typically there is going to be a good amount of scraping and sanding so this needs to be done first. Unless you have taken good care of the boards. ​

​

If the boards have been stained and scraped a few times over the years, there will be layers. So, to help combat that and create a more uniform look, we use Zinsser Peel Stop Triple Thick Primer.​​

The product we use for a Solid Stain on your Cedar Siding is Flood Pro Series Solid Color.  It looks like paint, but is designed and formulated for Cedar Siding.

Log and Cabin Staining

When it comes to this, it requires a lot of time and patience.  This can be a complex and time consuming job. Definitely recommend hiring a professional for this type of job, however if you feel up for a DIY challenge, then go for it!

First, as usual, prep.  Scrape and sand anything needed. Apply the First product, ​ProLuxe 1 Primary Coat RE Wood Finish.  Let this dry for 24 hours before applying the second product, ProLuxe 23 Top Coat RE Wood Finish.  The first coat of product 2 may not be the same color, so once it has dried for another 24 hours, apply a second round of the second product.

It is a good idea to have to have a paint company on a schedule so every 2 or 3 years they come out and apply the third product, ProLuxe Maintenance RE Wood Finish.  This will eliminate the need for a paint company to do some repeat steps and save you money in the long term.
