There are several questions I get asked at most jobsites. How long will it take? Will you powerwash before painting? When can I put my furniture back?

Let's take a look at some of the answers and see if this will help with questions you may have when booking a Painter to do a job for you.

How long will the job take? There are so many factors to this. Is it Interior or Exterior? What time of year is it as the weather may have an impact. Do I need to prime anything, as this adds time. Are all the items removed around the house so painters can paint? Trees cut back, pictures of the wall etc. While most painters can give a general answer to this question, just bear in mind there are many things that can speed the process up, or slow it down.

When can I put my furniture back and hang items on the wall? Interior paint is usually dry within about 1 hour to touch on a good day. Sometimes sooner, sometimes longer. If you want to place items back on the wall go for it, just know the paint will be very soft until it is cured out and hardened, which can take upto 1 week and depending on the type of paint it may take longer. Just a slight touch with your finger nail will remove the paint after it is freshly applied. SO BE CAREFUL! It may be worth waiting an extra day or two.

Will you Power wash my Home before painting? Yes! Most houses should be powerwashed to get rid of any dirt build up. A clean house helps with the paint adhesion so make sure your Painter is powerwashing before Painting/Staining your home. After the powerwashing, scraping and sanding should be done if needed, priming where needed, and then onto the main event... Painting!

Have You Been Doing This Long? Every Painting company is different. There are new start ups with tons of experience, new start ups with no experience, companies that have been around since before you were born! I can only speak for myself and the Business I started, 3 Point Painting LLC, we have been around since August 2023, but I have been painting since 2019, for around 6 years and I still enjoy it.

Always do research on a company before booking them, as you need to be sure you can trust them in your home if you are not around, trust them with any animals that may be around, your kids, the home itself. If you don't have a peace about the painter while doing the estimate, maybe they are not the right fit for you. Ask questions, create scenarios and see what there responses are, if any red flags come up, ask more questions about it or say goodbye! It is your home, make sure you are comfortable with the people you allow in to it.

We all know accidents happen, but you can make sure you are covered in case anything happens!

Do You Have Insurance? ABSOLUTELY! This is a must! Everyone needs to be protected, you, me, your house, my equipment. Again, there are so many companies that do not have it, so be careful when choosing the right painting company. Ask to see the Certificate if you are unsure, my company would have NO PROBLEM showing you if you requested to see it. Our current Certificate is always available with the Estimates I provide.

Where are you from? You have an accent! Ha! I was born and raised in England. My beautiful wife and I moved to Sioux Falls in 2014 and have lived here since while raising our incredible babies.

Will you Spray or Roll and Brush? That depends on the job itself. As a 1 man crew, it is generally easier for me to Roll and Brush, but there are occasions I can spray. If you have a preference then make sure you inform your painter so they can accommodate your request. Sometimes they can, sometimes they can't. All you can do is ask.
